Introduction

A residential area in Chennai, India’s northwest, is called Mogappair. It is a part of the Greater Chennai Corporation’s Ambattur zone and is situated west of Jawaharlal Nehru Road. Industrial estates are to the north and west, specifically in Padi and Ambattur.

Etymology:

The name of the area was derived from a lake with the name Mugapeeri. The name “evolved” to its current form due to repeated mispronunciation (Mogappair). In Tamil, the word for people is “Makkal,” and the word for having anything you want is “Peru.” Because of this, this location was previously known as “Makkal-Peru,” which means “Fortune of begetting children.” Later, this term underwent grammatical alteration to become “Mogappair” in present usage. Many couples still go to the “Shri Santhana Srinivasa Perumal temple” west of Mogappair in order to pray for their offspring’s blessings.

The locality price increased to Rs. 4674 in Q2 of 2019.

Due to its proximity to significant city and outlying centers, the area enjoys strong demand. This neighborhood’s price growth in the future could be excellent.
